I explore through visual expression the delicate relationship between the material and spiritual world in a sacred place of rich history and unexpected, revelatory, cosmic synchronizations — the greek island of Patmos.
With a deep personal connection to Patmos that dates back to my youth, I derive insight from decisive and transformative spiritual experiences during my stay at the Spring of Life monastery, the place where the inspiration for this exhibition originated. My work is influenced by the island's cosmopolitan aura — the architecture, the medicinal herbs, the healing saltiness of the air, and the peculiar observations that arise from the meeting of opposing worlds. It focuses on the healing process, both physical and spiritual, and through the fusion of sculpture, painting, photography, embroidery and drawing I abstractly convey my relationship with healing and the traditional medicine I have studied. During my recent stay at the monastic seat of the dancer monk Alexandros, I had the opportunity to experience aspects of monastic life and to witness indescribable skies that I attempted to capture in some of my photographs. I also had the chance to connect deeply with my ''quiet neighbors'' , the most respectful gentle beings - horses.
The exhibition Lunar Orbits Herbal Remedies and Healing Cycles took place at Museum Nikolaidis Mansion in Chora of Patmos island .
Organised as part of the Ministry of Culture's initiatives, highlighting the celebration of the <<Full Moon of August>>, 2025 with the Ephorate of Antiquites of the Dodecanese.
The artworks engaged in dialogue with selected archaeological and modern exhibits of the Museum Nikolaidis Mansion, conveying a contemplative, mystagogical approach, where contemporary art offers a new, creative interpretation of the past. The exhibition invited visitors into an experience of participation and empathy, where the unique relationship between the works and the island emerged intuitively, through light, memory, and the material of each creation.
The guided tours offered both me and the visitors the opportunity to speak about art, medicine, philosophy, history; to introduce and share the scent of herbs I collected from the island; and to observe together forty artworks placed like a treasure hunt throughout this labyrinthine historic building.
